3D Printing Living Cells Into Useful Biomedical Objects

A number of techniques have recently been developed for printing objects containing living cells. Such technology can lead to custom tissue replacements and various other medical applications. But, these methods are usually slow. Researchers at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, however, have now created a way to quickly print 3D structures with living cells seeded inside them.

UK Medtech is Set to Get Big Business from Photonics

In 2017, photonics contributed more than £12.9 billion to the UK economy, and the country's photonics industry is set to keep growing. Although the UK's research capabilities in healthcare photonics are world-class, there has been little success in inventions reaching a commercial stage. This will change, however, with the opening of The National Centre for Healthcare Photonics is now under construction in the Northeast in December 2018.

Apple Aims to Replace the Fax Machine in HealthCare

The tech titan has recently announced that its upcoming iOS 11.3 release will feature EMR-sharing. Apple said that 12 hospitals have signed up to beta test the software, which will enable healthcare providers and their patients to interact and share data on Apple devices.
