Philips CX50

Vendor: Philips

The Philips CX50 ultrasound system brings a broad imaging toolkit to a compact, portable platform. It can be used where a full-size console is difficult to position, including bedside examinations, intensive care, operating rooms, and satellite clinical locations. A compatible cart can provide a mobile workstation while keeping the compact system close to the patient.

The CX50 family includes shared-service and xMATRIX cardiology configurations. These should be distinguished when selecting a pre-owned machine: a system configured for routine general imaging does not necessarily include the hardware, licenses, or probes needed for advanced echocardiography. Philips' PureWave-compatible transducers, broadband beamforming, and image processing technologies provide the basis for its imaging performance.

Key Features

  • PureWave-compatible imaging: supported single-crystal transducers provide broad bandwidth for tissue detail and penetration, including examinations of technically difficult patients.
  • SonoCT compound imaging: combines information acquired from multiple lines of sight to improve tissue visualization and reduce certain imaging artifacts.
  • XRES image processing: helps reduce speckle and clutter while preserving useful tissue borders and structural detail.
  • Efficient image adjustment: iSCAN provides one-button optimization of 2D and Doppler imaging for supported examinations.
  • Guided workflow: SmartExam protocols can organize required views, automate annotation, and support repeatable examination sequences.
  • Retrospective image adjustment: native acoustic data storage allows supported imaging parameters to be adjusted during review, including selected 2D and Doppler data.
  • Cardiac options: xMATRIX-equipped configurations support advanced echo tools and Live 3D TEE with a compatible probe such as the X7-2t.
  • Study transfer: Philips documents wired/wireless DICOM connectivity and removable-media export, subject to installed options.

Clinical Applications

Shared-service configurations can address abdominal, vascular, breast, musculoskeletal, small-parts, pediatric, obstetric, gynecological, surgical, and cardiac examinations with the correct probes and software. Dedicated xMATRIX cardiac configurations extend the platform to adult and pediatric echocardiography and suitable transesophageal studies. Philips documents applications in bedside echo, critical care, neonatal care, and procedural environments.

Confirm the System and Included Probes

Ask Absolute Medical to confirm whether the offered unit is a standard CX50 or an xMATRIX configuration, which probes are included, and which cardiac or shared-service licenses are active. If your examination requires Live 3D TEE, strain analysis, or a particular QLAB application, request verification of that exact function. Live 3D TEE capability should not be interpreted as an assurance of real-time 4D obstetric imaging.
